An Introduction to Colourful Semantics

An Introduction to Supporting Children to Understand Questions Using the Blank Level Scheme

Lego is a popular pastime. Learn how to use it to develop children’s social skills in an engaging yet structured way. It can be used to support turn taking, eye contact, giving and following instructions and many more skills

Elklan Speech and Language Support for 5-11 yr olds

 

Learn how children typically develop their attention and listening, understanding, spoken language and social skills. Learners will gain practical evidence based strategies to support each area. A level 2 or 3 accreditation is available on the completion of a learning log.

This is a 3 part accredited course.

I CAN Talk Boost KS1

What is Talk Boost?

Talk Boost KS1 is a targeted intervention for 4-7 year old children with language that is delayed.  The programme is delivered in primary schools by classroom teachers and teaching assistants and provides a structured programme that boosts children’s progress in language and communication by an average of 9 – 18 months after a ten week intervention.

Learning goals: Participants will develop the skills and knowledge to understand the rationale behind Talk Boost KS1, identify appropriate children, measure their progress and deliver the intervention successfully.

Who: Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers and teaching assistants (schools typically send at least 1 class teacher and the 1 TA who supports that class)

Venue: It is likely that this will be an online workshop using ‘Zoom’. A link will be sent to you after booking.

 

Workshops are delivered by I CAN licensed trainers

The next training dates are:

  • Session 1 – Wednesday 20th May 10am – 12:30pm, Session 2 – Friday 22nd May 10am – 12:30pm

Format of the training:

Session 1

9:15 registration/introduction to using Zoom as a platform for learning

9:30 start – Overview of speech, language and communication skills in relation to group intervention

10:30-11:00 break (full break offline)

11:00-12:00 – Identifying children for Talk Boost groups, and using the Talk boost Tracker to monitor progress

12:00-12:30 – Any questions (Trainer will stay online for individual questions)

 

Session 2

9:15 registration/recap of what was covered last session

9:30 start – How to carry out the Talk Boost sessions

10:30-11:00 break (full break offline)

11:00-12:00 – Parental involvement, Rating scales

12:00-12:30 – Any questions (Trainer will stay online for individual questions)

 

Cost: £80 per attendee or £160 per school (for 2 or 3 members of staff)
