What is the WellComm Early Years Screening Toolkit? 

The WellComm Early Years Screening Toolkit enables you to quickly and easily identify children aged 6 months to 6 years who may benefit from speech and language support.

This course is an introduction to using the Screening Toolkit and prepares participants to be able to select individualised activities from the Big Book of Ideas.  As the Toolkit can be completed in around 20 minutes, this will allow participants to identify and address speech, language and communication needs early. 

The WellComm Early Years Screening Toolkit enables quick and easy identification of children needing speech and language support, making a crucial difference to confidence and attainment.  

• Quick and simple to use
• Requires no Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) expertise
• Can be used as many times as required 
• Instant reports are quick to digest, using an easy to understand traffic-light scoring format
• The full Toolkit Includes a “Big Book of Ideas” of 150 play-based activities so action can be taken straight away
• Activities can be used at home so effective support is provided whether referred to an SLT or not
• Supportive videos are available online showing you how to use the Toolkit, including examples of the reports 

Following this training, you may then wish to receive the WellComm Early Years – Big Book of Ideas training course which Communicate SLT can also provide. This training details play-based activities to support children’s speech, language and communication development. 

This 2 hour training package is being delivered in person. You will receive a welcome email from your trainer with joining instructions closer to the date of the training. 

In order to complete the training it is expected that each individual participant attends the full 2 hour session; you must already have resources in setting to participate in this training.  The WellComm Early Years complete set can be purchased for £470 from GL Assessment. You can purchase the Resource Pack directly from GL Assessment at: https://www.gl-assessment.co.uk/products/wellcomm/   

A reminder that we require a minimum of 3 participants to book onto this session in order for the training course to go ahead (hence the request for expressions of interest for now) and we will deliver this session to a maximum of 20 participants.

• Subsidised at a rate of £15.00 per ticket inc. VAT: Other professionals working with children and young people in Blackpool
• Chargeable at a rate of £50.00 per ticket inc. VAT: All others interested in attending this course
