Reviews

A review of an child or young person’s speech, language and/or communication needs will typically be carried out by the Speech and Language Therapist.

These reviews will be usually be carried out at appropriate points following an initial assessment or therapy / intervention.

Discussions with communication partners (e.g. parents, members of the children’s workforce), observations and assessments may be used to determine the child or young person’s ongoing speech, language and communication needs.

A speech and language therapy review may be carried out for a number of reasons, these can include:

  • To determine if the child or young person needs further Speech and Language Therapy input.
  • To determine if the child or young person’s needs have been resolved sufficiently / specialist level services are no longer needed. For more informatoin please visit our discharge / moving on web page
In consultation with communication partners, the Speech and Language Therapist will agree appropriate timescales for a review. The timescales for future reviews will be detailed in the care plan, shared shortly after any assessment / review.
