What is Early Talk 0-5?

  • Early Talk is Speech and Language UK’s highly successful training and accreditation programme aimed at the early years workforce in partnership with parents to support the communication needs of children from birth to age 5. The Early Talk 0-5 training programme has been independently evaluated as enhancing the learning environment for all children, with a long-term positive impact on staff and practice.

What is Early Talk 0-5 Training?

  • Early Talk 0–5 years provides a suite of three training modules that enables you to support all young children’s communication skills through a range of strategies and techniques.
  • At this session, Communicate SLT will deliver one of the three modules – Early Talk 0-5 – Supporting Communication and Language. 

Who is this module for?

  • The course is aimed at early years/pre-school practitioners who want to increase their knowledge of the approaches and strategies that can be used in settings to support the development of speech, language and communication in children aged 0-5.

What will I learn?

  • The Supporting Communication and Language module focuses on increasing participants knowledge of typical communication and language development, developing practitioners’ strategies and interaction styles to maximise their opportunities to develop every child’s skills in communication and language.

This in person training package consists of 2 x 2 hour sessions delivered face to face, early evening. You will receive a welcome email from your trainer with joining instructions closer to the date of the training.

By registering your interest in session 1 below, you are also indicating you will attend the same venue, at the same time on Thursday, 25 July 2024 to complete session 2.

In order to complete the training to certification, it is expected that each individual participant attends both sessions in their entirety.

A reminder that we require a minimum of 3 participants to book onto this specific suite of training dates in order for the training course to go ahead (hence the request for expressions of interest for now) and that each training date has a maximum of 20 spaces available.

  • reading, understanding and accepting the Terms and Conditions, then

Please complete one form per participant (type over the questions with your answers), noting that the details you input should be about the person attending the course. Details of the person making the booking/that requires the invoice (if different) will be requested further along in the registration process.

Who is this training for?

How much will this training cost?

Places on this session are available at the following rates:



Free of Charge: Blackpool Health Visitors, Blackpool Community Health Practitioners, Blackpool Early Years Practitioners
Subsidised at a rate of £15.00 per ticket inc. VAT: Other professionals working with children and young people in Blackpool
Chargeable at a rate of £50.00 per ticket inc. VAT: All others interested in attending this course

How is this training delivered?

What are the learning outcomes?

The Supporting Communication and Language module focuses on increasing participants knowledge of typical communication and language development, developing practitioners’ strategies and interaction styles to maximise their opportunities to develop every child’s skills in communication and language.

What qualifications do your trainers have?

All trainers are licensed professionals.

What resources will I need/be provided with?

Please bring your EARLY TALK TOOLKIT along with you to the training (you can share one between others from your setting). We will be referring to this during the session.  


 


At the end of the training, we will ask you to complete two evaluation forms in order to receive your training certificate.

What are your payment terms?

Please note that all training will be invoiced for as soon as we know there are sufficient participants to run the course. Payment is due within 14 days of receipt of the invoice. All training sessions are non-refundable but are transferable to a new date if we are notified within the time period detailed below.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

7 days' notice must be given in writing to events@communicate-slt.org.uk if the booker wishes to change the date of your training session/request reallocation of the cost to an alternative date. Any sessions cancelled by the booker later than 7 days before the first session is due to be carried out, will not be eligible for transfer or refund. Communicate SLT reserve the right to cancel any training session and in such an event will reimburse in full any course fees paid.
